Q: What are the “must have” items in your travel bag?
A: I need to have a warm sweater, because always in the aeroplane I find it very cold. What else?…erm…Let’s see. In the plane, I like to have a water spray to hydrate the face a lot, lip balm and comfortable clothes, definitely, like I need to wear something cozy to travel.
Q: Do you have any tips on your exercise routine?
A: I always like to bring with me some elastic bands, because sometimes when you’re in places, you don’t have a proper gym to work out. So, you have no excuses, and you can do your own workout. But I always have, like, a band with me and also some ankle weights, so I can do my workout wherever I go.
Q: What inspires you to follow a healthy lifestyle?
A: You find the motivation in yourself, like, everyone has their own reasons to work out. My own is that I have a very busy schedule all of the time and I find it’s very important to take one hour per day for myself. Otherwise, it’s only about work, and I don’t think that’s great. I think we all have life after work so, as most of the time, I’m alone in a hotel or somewhere, I find it, like, a place that feels like home, so I go to the gym. I let all the stress, all the tiredness come out of me, and I find that good. So everyone has a different way to feel good for themselves, and I find it in the workouts.
Q: Do you have a favourite fashion photographer?
A: It’s hard to say. You know, I’m very blessed to be able to work with the very photographers out there, so I just think all of them have something totally different to the other, so it would be impossible to pick one. I just feel very blessed I am able to work with all of them.
Q: What was your first experience in fashion?
A: My first special memory was in Brazil, my very first show. I didn’t know how to walk on heels, and I just realized that minutes before the runway, but somehow I managed to do it and, actually, I think I did well.
Q: What’s it like to be part of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?
A: On the runway, the regular runway, you don’t have to interact that much. Here, it’s more like a television show. So it’s something that you’re really able to show your personality, and to be out there like the person who you really are. For some reason, I just belong here, so I’m so happy.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: I don’t have any hidden talents but if you dare me to do something I’ll go after it big time.
Q: What’s your favorite movie?
A: I’m very romantic—I love City of Angels.
Q: Is there any place you’re dying to see?
A: I’ve never been to Thailand and I’ve only heard good things about it. I really want to make my way there. (Izabel finally got to visit Thailand and Cambodia in December 2013)
Q: Tell me something about yourself people would be surprised to know.
A: Sometimes people can only imagine that I live a glamorous life 24/7, which I don’t. I just like the most natural and simple things. That’s what makes me happy.
Q: What should a man never do on the first date?
A: You should never be late!
Q: Are you a sports fan?
A: I love tennis. My brother is a tennis player and Guga [Brazilian player Gustavo Kuerten] is a very good friend of mine.
Q: If you weren’t modeling what would you be doing?
A: I love home design, I think I’d be an architect or home designer.
Q: What languages do you speak?
A: I speak English, Portuguese, and French. One day I’d love to learn Italian.
Q: Do you cook?
A: Yes, I like to cook—I cook pasta, it’s a little mix of everything.
Q: If you could cook dinner for someone dead or alive who would it be?
A: Definitely Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. I have the best memories listening to his music. Even when I’m home doing nothing in my car I still play “Black” and “Daughter” and have the best time ever.
